Managing Underperformance Early
Turning Small Concerns into Timely Action
£200.00£160.00
Underperformance is much easier to address when it is managed early, fairly and consistently. This one-day course gives managers the confidence and structure to identify performance concerns before they become serious problems. Participants will explore the common causes of underperformance, including unclear expectations, skill gaps, motivation issues, personal challenges, workload pressures and conduct concerns.
The course focuses on practical early intervention, helping managers move from avoidance or frustration to calm, evidence-based action. Learners will practise how to prepare for performance conversations, use objective examples, ask useful questions, agree improvement actions and follow up effectively. The course also highlights the importance of documentation, fairness and consistency when managing performance.
Through realistic scenarios and role practice, participants will develop the confidence to address issues respectfully while maintaining standards. By the end of the day, managers will be better equipped to prevent small performance concerns from becoming larger and more difficult problems.
