Managing Difficult Conversations With Confidence
Facing the Conversation, Protecting the Relationship
£200.00£160.00
Difficult conversations are an unavoidable part of management, yet many managers delay them because they fear conflict, emotional reactions or damaging relationships. This one-day course helps managers approach challenging conversations with greater confidence, preparation and control. Participants will explore why difficult conversations become difficult, what typically goes wrong, and how to create a more constructive discussion even when emotions are high.
The course provides a practical structure for preparing, opening, managing and closing conversations involving performance, behaviour, conflict, attitude, attendance, expectations or working relationships. Learners will practise using calm, clear and respectful language while maintaining focus on facts, impact and outcomes. They will also develop techniques for managing resistance, defensiveness, silence, anger or disagreement.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more confident to address issues earlier, communicate more professionally and achieve clearer outcomes from challenging workplace conversations without avoiding the problem or escalating tension unnecessarily.
