Moving into your first team leadership role can be exciting, challenging and sometimes uncomfortable. This one-day course helps new and aspiring managers make the transition from individual contributor to confident team leader. Participants will explore what changes when they become responsible for the performance, motivation and behaviour of others.

The course covers essential management skills, including setting expectations, communicating priorities, building credibility, managing relationships, giving direction and creating accountability. Learners will examine common challenges faced by first-time managers, such as managing former peers, avoiding over-friendliness, handling poor performance and balancing support with authority.

Through practical exercises, discussion and workplace scenarios, participants will develop the confidence to lead with clarity and professionalism. By the end of the course, they will understand the foundations of effective team leadership and leave with a practical action plan to help them build trust, establish standards and lead their team successfully.
