Chairing Better Meetings

Creating Focused Conversations That Lead to Action

£250.00

Poor meetings waste time, reduce energy and often create confusion rather than progress. This one-day course helps managers and meeting chairs lead meetings that are focused, purposeful and action-driven. Participants will explore why meetings often fail and how to decide whether a meeting is needed at all.

The course covers preparation, agenda design, meeting purpose, participant roles, time management, decision-making and follow-up. Learners will practise chairing techniques that encourage contribution, manage dominant voices, draw out quieter participants and keep discussions on track. They will also learn how to handle drift, repetition, disagreement and unclear ownership of actions.

The course places strong emphasis on outcomes: what needs to be decided, agreed, communicated or completed after the meeting. By the end of the day, participants will be able to chair meetings with greater confidence, improve engagement and ensure that conversations lead to clear decisions, stronger accountability and meaningful action.
